Old Friend

Do you remember me, old friend?
I remember you.
How we used to run and play,
without cares, without fears,
so at peace around each other.

Would you find it strange for me to say Hello?
We both have grown.
No longer do we know each other,
yet we share a kinship,
a bond that should be strong.

Do you sometimes think of me, as I do of you?
Days long gone, but never forgotten.
I didn’t realize it at the time,
but those were the best days of my life,
and I laugh when I think of them.

How are you, old friend?
I miss you.
I wish you all the best,
for you have given me my most precious treasure…
fond memories.
