My Obsession

My obsession.
A king as never before.
I convey full charm, full power.
Your night is my life.

Yet, I am Gibson’s “Venice Decompressed”...
A mere illusion of past laurels.
Expositions in pretense – from a young fool,
I had no life before.

And this is what is most ironic.
When I made a life of my obsession,
There was no life for me.
But curiously, I was happy.

No longer do I try to follow such trappings...
My hands are to my side,
And I ask, “Is this life?”
And my obsession comes back to haunt me.
